Shelter AdoptMeApp Widgets

These widgets are a version of our “diary” widget and are a live feed from our partner shelters. There is a widget for each shelter that can be found on our demo blog . Use the index on the left of that blog to select a particular shelter’s feed.

The AdoptMeApp All Shelters’ Widget is the live feed from all partner shelters consolidated.

Note: The widget can be configured in many other ways including by species, style, colors, size/width, etc. and placed on any webpage or blog post.

AdoptMeApp Pet Diaries

These diaries are visible in the shelters’ pet profiles as soon as the first post for that pet is made, and they exist forever, even after an outcome (e.g. adoption, transfer to a rescue organization, return to owner, or other). If a pet is returned to the shelter and made available again the diary still exists and is again visible in the pet profile.

At the time of this writing (2/12/2019) over 17 thousand pets have one or more AdoptMeApp diary entries and the total number of diary entries is 58 thousand. These diaries continue to be visible in a variety of ways including and especially on social media. They never disappear.

Below are just a handful of examples.

Top Dog* in each shelter measured by # of AdoptMeApp Posts

Cupcake (dog, shelter = CCSTCA, 128 posts)
Queenie (dog, shelter = STSLCA, 109 posts )
Pip (dog, shelter = SDHSCA 53 posts)
Bella (dog, shelter = SNJSCA, 31 posts)
Buddy (dog, shelter = SCRMCA, 29 posts)
Sahara (dog, shelter = RSPCAQLD, 18 posts)
Dirk (dog, shelter = SLOCCA, 15 posts)

The format of diary varies depending on underlying animal management system and shelter choice.

(*Top Dog calculation is based on the total number of posts for that dog which is dependent on many factors including the amount of time a shelter will hold a dog till adoption or rescue, average length of stay, size of shelter e.g. intake, number of volunteers, length of time shelter has been using AdoptMeApp, number of dogs in foster care, and more. This information was created in Winter 2018. Other shelters have implemented AdoptMeApp since that time but their top dogs are not shown in this chart.)

Top Cat* in each shelter measured by # of AdoptMeApp Posts

Bugs (cat, shelter = RSPCAQLD, 42 posts)
Whitney (cat, shelter = SDHSCA, 38 posts)
Julie (cat, shelter = AAHSMN, 30 posts)
Gizmo (cat, shelter = CCSTCA, 25 posts)
Lucky (cat, shelter = SNJSCA, 15 posts)
Max (cat, shelter = SLOCCA, 7 posts)
Mewi (cat, shelter = SCRMCA, 6 posts)

The format of diary varies depending on underlying animal management system and shelter choice.

Twitter Accounts

Shelter Twitter Accounts

These accounts are the social media output from the AdoptMeApp posts. The Twitter output can be configured independently of the widget output. These Twitter accounts are owned by AdoptMeApp.
(Because it is the server-side of AdoptMeApp doing the actual tweets, AdoptMeApp functions normally even in environments where Twitter is blocked or unavailable.)

Each shelter has its own Twitter account. Links to these accounts can be found in the demo blog on the same page as the shelter’s widget.

AdoptMeApp Twitter Account

This is the official Twitter account for AdoptMeApp. All the AdoptMeApp tweets from the shelters’ AdoptMeApp accounts are retweeted.

There is also a Twitter list for all of the shelter AdoptMeApp accounts. This list is similar in content to the widget but it contains retweets and replies.

Other Twitter Accounts

Corporate: We maintain other corporate accounts that have large followings and which also retweet from the shelter AdoptMeApp accounts.

Personal: Our CEO and her dogs also have Twitter accounts and are regularly retweet from the shelter AdoptMeApp accounts

For more information about these Twitter accounts please visit the IP Assets page.

User Testimonials are in this marketing blog

Who Posted What?

This list, also known as the “All Stories” list, is a continually updated webpage that displays which user posted which diary entry. While it is publicly visible, one must have the url. It’s primary purpose is to enable us, AdoptMeApp, to let a user know if there is an issue with a post. These issues are very rare and are almost always due to a poor internet connection (photo doesn’t fully upload) or a post for the wrong pet (e.g. the wrong “Bella”). The list is also handy for users that want to know which person made a particular post. There is a version of this list for each shelter.

The underlying data allows AdoptMeApp to calculate who the “power users” are. The top “super power user” is Callie at the RSPCAQLD who has made nearly 5,000 posts. Photos from the award ceremony for her 3,200 posts milestone.

Tips and Tricks (for app users)

The Tips and Tricks page (which is in the demo blog) is basically the FAQ for AdoptMeApp. It can be accessed directly by a weblink or via a link in the app.

AdoptMeApp Demo Shelter

The Demo Shelter is a fully functioning AdoptMeApp shelter, albeit a virtual one full of toy stuffed animals aka “stuffies”. Anyone can “test drive” AdoptMeApp by downloading the app from the app store and signing up for the demo shelter.

Examples:
Toy Dog Pinky | Toy Dog Tiki | Toy Cat Cleo | Toy Cat Annabel

Along with being a place for people to try out AdoptMeApp, the Demo Shelter also shows the versatility of AdoptMeApp in that it is a general group storytelling system that can be filled with any type of entity and used in any market.

AdoptMeApp Handout & Poster for Shelters

Facebook AdoptMeApp “Appster” Group

This is a publicly visible but app-user-only membership group for discussions and information sharing regarding AdoptMeApp. It is not used much now as we focus on marketing. User support is typically done via email to customercare@kachingle.com or FB messenger.
