AdoptMeApp allows me a deeply personal moment to capture the spirit of the dog I am with, share that photo in hopes of reaching a potential adopter, and change that dog’s life forever! I didn’t even own a smartphone nor cared about one until I saw this app and what it could do; smartphone purchase was made! For me who is but one volunteer among a sea of so many deserving dogs, AdoptMeApp softens some of the realities of volunteering at a shelter, it gives a homeless dog more than a number — a face and some hope!

I have been using AdoptMeApp and two of my kittens have been adopted because of it, one of the adopters driving from San Francisco to Sacramento to do so. Being able to post current photos is so much better than potential adopters having to guess what the kittens look like from their intake photos. I take lots of photos of my kittens and post a progression of them growing up.

I can’t believe I am now a “power user” of AdoptMeApp! I was very resistant to using the App because I thought it would be hard to learn, time consuming and just one more thing to do after a busy day at the shelter. Boy, was I wrong! AdoptMeApp is easy to use, not time consuming at all, and is incredibly helpful in getting the shelter animals adopted. The individual pet’s AdoptMeApp diary (embedded in their shelter pet profile webpage) contains pictures and videos that are taken by many different people and which really capture the personality of the animal and make them so much more real and interesting to a potential adopter. I am absolutely convinced that the pictures and stories I posted about King (see his diary) and Hope (below, also see her diary), two of my most beloved shelter dogs, made the difference in their being adopted by the wonderful people who they live with today and who love and cherish them. As a shelter volunteer, I also look at the individual pet’s diaries to familiarize myself with the animals so that I learn about the things they like to do and how they respond in different situations. This makes the time I spend with the animals more productive and more fun for me and them. AdoptMeApp is a great resource for both volunteers and potential adopters.

I have been using AdoptMeApp for almost two years. This app allows our volunteer group to showcase our animals on what would otherwise be a very boring PetHarbor page that without AdoptMeApp would contain only minimal information, one photo, no videos, and no bio for the animals. AdoptMeApp allows the people who interact with the animals the most to share our experiences with potential adopters, thereby bringing in these adopters already armed with a wealth of information on the specific animals they are interested in.
(ed. note: Steve posts are exclusively videos)

Many animals at our shelter have been adopted after their new families viewed their AdoptMeApp diaries. I love that AdoptMeApp allows users to post additional pictures, videos, and information into the profiles of shelter animals allowing potential adopters to learn more. Sometimes that extra information in their profile from the AdoptMeApp is what brings the adopter into the shelter. Not only is AdoptMeApp easy to use, but it also posts to each animals profile in real time. When marketing animals for the shelter posting to the AdoptMeApp is one of the vital steps I take to help get animals adopted.
(Note: Our volunteers always ask every adopter how they found out about our shelter and/or animal they’re interested in and at least 50% of the time they say from their PetHarbor shelter profile where the AdoptMeApp diary appears.)

I love this video of Jade because she was one of my favorite dogs of all time. She was at the shelter for so long – something like 9 months – and then her family saw THIS video on social media and came to adopt her.
